It isn't surprising that parents who encourage their kids to take up music lessons form a certain expectation that the latter will ultimately end up as singers, instrumentalists or basically, musical performers who do both or either. Yet even if these children don't fulfil their parents' expectation, it doesn't automatically mean that they are a disappointment. These kids after all learn valuable and not to mention practical lessons from the sessions they attended. Those lessons are what see them through life and all its challenges.
For one, the children learn the value of discipline early on as they take up Guitar lessons for example. Just as they learn to play musical instruments, these students, at the same time, recognise the need to practice and refine their skills so that they can perform better. Also, as students, these children similarly learn how to quickly recover from their mistakes while they seek to find a smooth transition from failure to success. This likewise translates to mean that a student has what it takes to carry on amidst difficulty as he or she strives to accomplish something no matter what.
Add to that, one thing that is particularly true with students who provide an accompaniment to a song or who sings the song while another person plays the instrument, is that they acknowledge the importance of teamwork in their own experiences. These people know firsthand how crucial it is to cooperate in order to achieve a common goal. Later in life, such learning and realisation come in handy as they give what they possibly can for the benefit of the majority.
At this point, it's already very obvious that music lessons train and mould a student not only in all things music but practically, in most things about life too. The student takes home with him and her practical and universally applicable learning that is significant throughout his or her life. His or her gains clearly goes beyond mastering how to sing or play an instrument pretty well.
The lessons learned and the values instilled in the student are instrumental in living life to the full. A student who at one point in his or her life took up music lessons can positively contribute to the industry he or she wishes to penetrate in.
