After some time, the shapes became more imaginative, and other shapes were introduced, for example, trapezoidal. Wing-shaped ones were especially popular in Northern Europe.

Of course, it's hard to find ones with gut strings today. They were replaced with steel strings. Steel strings make it more loud and the sound is brighter this way. Numerous well-known musical instruments are based on this ancient one, for example the hammer dulcimer. Recently, it became popular again, thanks to its wonderful sound.

Different specialized shops offer psalteries and all related materials. The fact is that they are so easy to play anyone can do it, and you should really try. Beautifully shaped, made of wood or some other, unusual materials, simple or lovely decorated, these interested musical instruments will certainly make you fall in love in them instantly. Once you hear their sound, you will understand why.
