General Information On Turban Colors

Color is a powerful aspect of our daily lives and is associated with numerous things. It is symbolic of certain events, memories, objects, people and even places. It is an effective cue of non-verbal communication that tells the world a lot about us. The color preferred for clothing, home and decor and the cars we chose to drive are effective communicators of our unique personalities. In this regard, turban colors are associated with certain things in the society.

The color aspect of turbans has been used to determine their uses and encode certain messages. The meaning varies across the religious divide but a common significance of colors is the social class. They stand for wealth, various events and prosperity. Height is also a common feature associated with special meaning attached to these accessories.

It is a common headwear in many religions, particularly, Islam and Sikhism. It is fashioned from a long and slender piece of cloth and is worn on the head. This headdress is a customary headdress in many societies and is mostly worn by men. Wrapping a turban signifies the traditions, beliefs, customs and the unique personality of an individual. Most societies associated with turbans use them to uphold and preserve their culture.

There are many colors used in the design of these fabrics. Those that are commonly used include black, green, navy blue, white, orange and green. The specific type of fabric used determines the quality associated with it. Various materials and styles are applied to cater for the different tastes and preferences. This also helps to improve the affordability of the accessories. Common materials are silk, cotton, fine muslin and synthetics. Any style or fabric employed creates a unique and attractive piece.

The various religious leaders and scholars in Islamic countries are known to wear wraps that are white in color over a special cap. Individuals though to have directly descended from the lineage of Prophet Muhammad prefer to wear black wraps. Bright turbans are a common feature in joyful events such as marriages and are usually decorated with special materials. Dull and plain wraps commonly feature in solemn events including funerals

In these societies, wearing a turban is considered as a modest way of dressing. It portrays a number of values that are held in high regard in the society. It signifies devotion, self-respect and manhood. White and green turbans are believed to signify the color of paradise. They are worn during prayer sessions as part of keeping a religious belief that requires men to wear them during worship. There are those who believe that this act has an influence on the way in which their prayers are answered.

Orange and navy have significance in the Sikh community. They are worn on special commemorative events and on days of particular religious observance. A Pink fabric is worn while attending special occasions such as weddings, engagement ceremonies and other major events. Many people wear white turbans on a daily basis as part of their religious beliefs.

Generally, whichever design or color one chooses, the wrap is still acceptable in the society. The color worn by most individuals is determined by personal preference and most of them prefer matching them with the rest of their clothing. Although there may be favorite turban colors for selected events, there are no colors that are prohibited. The specific colors are as a result of common norms and popular preference.
