The Faithful Know The Real Value Of Christian Art

By Eric Jimenez

People across the world have been using painting and sculpting for centuries. These have been utilized to depict Christian art since the start of Christianity. It has been used as a way to portray what they believe in or a specific or favorite story form the Bible. People identify easier with their beliefs and their faith is strengthened when something is put on view.

Most Christian groups have used some form of art although it has been frowned upon to use certain forms of religious images. Images of Christ, scenes from the life if Christ and the Virgin Mary has been the most popular subjects. Stories from the Old Testament have also been a favorite to paint, even for some of the legends of the arts, through the centuries.

All sorts of art forms have been used by Christians since the beginning of time but some images are regarded as sacred thus not available for show. The most commonly portrayed are the paintings of the crucifixion, the apostles and the mother Mary. Also a favourite is stories of the life of Christ.

There is some art from history that has survived from the earliest days when Christianity originated. There are some irreplaceable paintings that date back to the year 70. Also available for viewing are valuable sculptures dating back to the second century.

During the time that this kind of art was developing, the main purpose was to display a religious meaning rather than people from the Bible. This has changed greatly since then. The art you know today depicts more detail like the paintings, sculptures, drapings and tapestries that you see in the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox churches, beautifully displayed on walls and in windows as stained glass.

There many reproductions of famous paintings around the worked. Only a skilled professional will be able to tell the difference between the real thing and a forgery. That means the difference in paying and exorbitant amount for a copy or the authentic item. Most of these one of a kind masterpieces are being safeguarded in museums across the globe, although not all have been recovered after the Second World War.

There are many companies that specialize in manufacturing and printing artwork to be sold. Attaining Christian artifacts for mere appreciation or for worshiping purposes are widely available. There are also sought after artists that supply work to many religious establishments and individuals world-wide. A lot of the best known minds and talents in the entire history of humanity create religious art.
