How To Make Appropriate Patterns For Salon Aprons

By Mamie Conrad

Salon aprons are an essential part of the tools of the trade of the stylist. It is as important as the pair of scissors and comb in performing hair styling and treatment. When creating an appropriate apron design, keep in mind that functionality comes first before style.

The aprons used in salons are not much different from those used by a butcher, a washer, or a chef. However, it should be suitable to the intended purpose. To make it so, there are modifications that the designer can do to the regular piece.

You can choose between making the apron from raw materials or buying an already finished one and applying the modifications on your own. To craft the tool from scratch, you will need an appropriate length of fabric and the pattern to be employed in the design. You will also need scissors, needles, and thread. You can add the embellishments to customize the apron.

You can find an easy design on the local textile shop. If you plan to purchase a ready to utilize apron, you can purchase one from a store that sells beauty products. If you decide to create your own using a pattern, choose the appropriate fabric to use.

The preferred textile should be durable to withstand a machine wash. Choose an appropriate color that reflects the color that is predominant in your business. You can make the colors of your logo as basis in choosing the color to use. Make it a point to choose colors that do not easily show signs of stain and spills. White is not advisable to use unless you are using single use tool.

Start creating the tool by cutting the pieces based on the pattern. To make accurate cuts, iron the pattern as well as the fabric to be used. Make sure all pieces can fit into the available length of the textile before cutting. Allowances have to be made for additional pockets and embellishments not included in the original pattern.

After cutting the pieces, fold and iron out the seams of the pieces. After folding and ironing, assemble and secure the pieces in place with pins. Sew the pieces by hand or using a machine. Hand stitching requires the use of appropriate thread and needle for the cloth to avoid getting injured.

Start with the pockets and straps. After which, you can start with the seams of the fabric. The embellishments that you use should not hinder with the work of the stylists. Hinges and frayed seams are not advisable to use because it can get caught up in other salon equipment. Instead, you can choose iron on designs or your logo for the embellishment.

If fabric paint is used as added design, make sure that it is completely dry before using. If you are not comfortable with using fabric paints yourself, you can hire a professional printer to do the painting job for you. All that you need to do is provide them with the image that you wanted to place on your salon aprons.
