Experience The Colorful Power Of Kristopher Naeger Art

By Cathy Mercer

Kristopher Naeger art has much that is appealing. Exploring his art online is a wonderful way to experience the power his images have. This is work that promotes color in strong and bold images.

Kristopher and his family are survivors of hurricane Katrina. Though the event brought water right to his studio entryway, he was able to move forward with art that is meaningful. He has created work in studios in New Orleans, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Costa Rica and France. Though it might seem that these contrasting locations would affect his compositions, but his work retains its distinctive assertiveness no matter where he paints.

There are several series displayed on Kristopher's website. Within each, there is a wonderful burst of design and colors that make his work distinctive. Abstracts, Cityscapes and Abstract Flowers are the simple names he has chosen, but the names give no hint to the cheerful work in each of the collections. His personal style must be seen to appreciate the varied techniques and ideas he incorporates.

His Cityscapes series shows development from an original idea through four sets of scenes. The first works show a simple building or two with a vividly colored background. As the works progress from set one through four, however, there are more and more buildings and certainly greater variations in the skies behind. It is as if his creative inspiration increased over time, resulting in ever more complex compositions.

The two Abstracts collections are filled with linear design, bold movement and bright hues. The first set features broad, complex lines. The second has designs that evoke thoughts of corn cob rows or cells in a bee hive. These compact shapes nestle closely to each other, and call for close looks and some bit of contemplation. The repetition is actually fascinating and longer gazes reveal details that are not first evident.

The Abstract Flowers set includes four paintings of popular flowers. A white stalk, reminiscent of gladiolas, daisies, a fuchsia and a sunflower make up the various compositions. Each bloom has its own space, and the huge size fills it. Not quiet or reserved by any measure, these are lovely, fun and demanding your attention.

This is an artist who welcomes visitors to his studios via the Internet. He hopes that those who see where he works will glean some understanding about his artistic processes. A creative spirit fills the rooms, as they are chock full of paint bottles, canvases, framed art on the walls, a chair for resting every so often, and tables covered with tools and supplies. Nothing is haphazard, however. Everything is orderly in such a way that one could reach out and pick up the things that inspired at the moment. A clue to his personality is seen in his banners, which have his name, handwritten and boldly displayed. The signature has flair and crisp, assertive lettering. All these things show the artist's touch.

The strength of Kristopher Naeger art comes from powerful use of color, graphic brush strokes and brave design elements. His completely confident color selections create unity throughout his compositions. A visit to his online website offers the chance to enjoy it and be refreshed.
